Lombardo Radice’s concept of didactic has been widely investigated from several perspectives. This essay aims to add a further step in the reflection on the thought of the Catanese pedagogist by highlighting and analysing the relationship between “grammar of teaching” and “grammar of language”. The implications that derive from this relationship allow us to outline how much current developments in didactic research and in the teaching of Italian owe to his thought.

Abstract

Lombardo Radice’s concept of didactic has been widely investigated from several perspectives. This essay aims to add a further step in the reflection on the thought of the Catanese pedagogist by highlighting and analysing the relationship between “grammar of teaching” and “grammar of language”. The implications that derive from this relationship allow us to outline how much current developments in didactic research and in the teaching of Italian owe to his thought.
