The use of social media, in particular social networking sites, is increased in recent years, given their easy access and availability. The interactive nature of social media, combined with its increasing use, leads to a valid dataset of human activity online, i.e., digital footprints. Many psychologists investigated the relationships between digital footprints and personality traits. In this study, we wanted to establish if and how HEXACO Emotionality trait is associated with both real and reported FB use. This study involved 503 participants aged from 18 to 36 years old (Mage = 24.65, SD = 2.93) all having a Facebook account. Each participant filled out an online questionnaire consisting of three parts: demographic information, Facebook’s and Personality’s scales. Once completed the questionnaire, we asked to the participants to log into their Facebook profiles and to copy and import their activity log data to an Excel file. The results show that Emotionality and its facets, in particular, Dependence and Sentimentality, are associated with both real and reported FB use.

Abstract
The results show that Emotionality and its facets, in particular, Dependence and Sentimentality, are associated with both real and reported FB use.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
