This presentation is focused on a qualitative research in the educational field carried out by a group of research from the University of Milano-Bicocca, lead by professor Maria Grazia Riva. Object of this research is the relationship between informal everyday practices and codified procedures of evaluation in educational services for children. The research was structured as a "collective case study", focused on two services representative of types of intervention in the Lombardy region. Explored areas of investigation were: the explicit and implicit models of evaluation in the procedures and in the official documentation of the services; the explicit and implicit models of evaluation in the everyday educational practices of the service; the differences between the procedures adopted and practices implemented everyday. The methodology adopted is the ecological, phenomenological-hermeneutic, clinical and critical approach. This analysis revealed different levels of evaluation, and showed the difficulty of "telling", documenting, and evaluating educational practices.
