The field emission of linear carbon clusters in a constant electric field is studied both numerically and analytically. It is found that for fields of the order of 0.6 V/Å, a chain of 10 carbon atoms can yield currents as large as a μA. Such an 'electron gun' is expected to be highly monoenergetic.

Abstract
The field emission of linear carbon clusters in a constant electric field is studied both numerically and analytically. It is found that for fields of the order of 0.6 V/Å, a chain of 10 carbon atoms can yield currents as large as a μA. Such an 'electron gun' is expected to be highly monoenergetic.File in questo prodotto:
