The author reconstructing sequence of publication and early Italian (Mecacci) translation of Vygotsky works in Italy and confronting it with salient cultural events in italian ECEC argues that in particular the Reggio Emilia approach and the works of Gianni Rodari have been influenced by Vygotsky Psycology of Art and Imagination and Creatvity. It compares texts by Malaguzzi and Rodari with Vygotsky’s. It appears how Psycology of Art has been widely more influential in ECEC than better known works such as Language and Thougths.
