The chapter presents an epistemological reading of working with life histories in the education of adults. The narration of one's own history can transform into a journey of self-knowledge and self-inquiry, but only if a critical examination of personal, institutional and social presuppositions and determinants is fostered. This requires the presence of the "other" as a constraint and potential revelation of one's own otherness.
