L'uomo che non c'era: un’analisi delle produzioni discorsive sulla solitudine delle madri (The Man Who Wasn’t There: an analysis of discursive productions on the loneliness of mothers)

A partire dagli esiti di una ricerca sulle rappresentazioni sociali della maternità (Camussi, 2009), il contributo indaga "la solitudine delle madri" attraverso l’analisi delle produzioni discorsive di un gruppo di donne (lavoratrici, cultura medio-alta, residenti a Milano) con un’esperienza di maternità "normale". I risultati mostrano che la solitudine è una scoperta tanto sgradevole quanto inaspettata e deriva: 1) dall’assenza dei partner, padri "nuovi" e coinvolti, spesso non altrettanto adeguati a cogliere la complessità del ruolo materno; 2) dalla mancanza di reti famigliari e sociali che forniscano alle donne condivisione e supporto, riducendo l’investimento e le attese sul partner On the base of a previous research on social representations of motherhood (Camussi, 2009), the paper investigates "the loneliness of mothers" through the analysis of discursive production (semi-direct interviews, focus groups, follow-up) of a group of women ( workers, well educated, resident in Milan, Italy) with an experience of a non–pathological motherhood. The results show that the loneliness the women experiment after the childbirth is an unexpected and unpleasant discovery. It depends on: 1) the presence of partners acting as 'new involved fathers”, but often not adequate to capture the complexity of the maternal role, 2) the lack of family and social networks that provide women with a sense of empowerment through sharing support and reducing the investment on the marital partner.
