This paper presents a project for upper secondary school teachers, namely “Insegnare la Statistica – Statistica e Probabilità: dalla teoria alla pratica", developed at the University of Milano-Bicocca during the 2025/2026 academic year. Since secondary school statistics education often prioritizes rote computation over conceptual understanding, the course was co-designed with upper secondary school teachers to emphasize the importance of statistical thinking and context-dependent interpretation, consistently with the ASA’s Statistical Education of Teachers report. The course consists of three two-hour webinars and a final four-hour hybrid workshop. The 2025/2026 edition covers bivariate relationships and combinatorial methods and probability, blending passive, active, and peer learning through real-world contexts, digital tools, and interactive materials, directly transferable to classroom use.

Abstract

The “Piano Lauree Scientifiche” (PLS) is an Italian Ministry of Education initiative supporting STEM education since 2004.
