The essay is divided into three parts. The first presents the Siceliot Greek theatre of Monte Jato, one of the lesser-known theatres in Sicily, yet important in the history of Greek theatre and therefore widely studied. The second part examines the theatre festival Teatri di Pietra, given that some performances have been staged at the Monte Jato site. This is followed by a list of the plays performed there and a reflection on theatre and performance tourism. The inspiration for this research was my recent visit to the theatron, during which I took the photographs included in the essay.
