Based on extensive qualitative research oriented toward the study of Olympic criticism, this study aims to analyze how various communities operating in the mountain areas of Belluno articulate the relationship between the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics and the phenomenon of depopulation. The results reveal how criticism addresses a top-down territorial management model aimed at consolidating its tourism vocation, to the detriment of residents’ needs and complex structural conditions.
