The contribution aims to reflect on a particular form of educational and scholastic activities documentation, such as the diary, starting from the testimonies written by the teachers of the first "Case dei Bambini" in Milan, founded as a result of the fruitful collaboration between Montessori and the Società Umanitaria. It is possible for us to approach these testimonies through the pages published in the journal "La Coltura Popolare", where ample space was given to these voices, which allow a careful reconstruction of the materials, the environments, the organization of activities, and the role of the teacher in the These testimonies show a revolutionary way of understanding the professional role, not only in the activities with children: the teacher becomes, in fact, the one who accurately reflects on her daily work, knows how to present and justify it in front of an audience of readers, knows how to start from these reflections for a design targeted and declined on the needs and interests of children. The vitality and freshness, the capacity for thoughtful evaluation, the profound awareness of one's role that characterised the first Montessori teachers are evidence of the active role they also played in the dissemination of the method and recall skills currently considered indispensable in the training of future teachers.
Il contributo intende riflettere su una particolare forma di documentazione delle attività educative e scolastiche, quale il diario, a partire dalle testimonianze a noi pervenute redatte dalle insegnanti delle prime Case dei Bambini di Milano, fondate a seguito della feconda collaborazione fra Montessori e Società Umanitaria. È possibile per noi accostarci a queste testimonianze attraverso le pagine pubblicate sulla rivista La Coltura Popolare, ove ampio spazio fu riconosciuto a queste voci, che consentono una ricostruzione attenta dei materiali, degli ambienti, dell’organizzazione delle attività, del ruolo dell’insegnante nella scuola. Si tratta di testimonianze che mostrano un modo rivoluzionario di intendere il ruolo professionale, non solo nelle attività con i bambini: la maestra diviene, infatti, colei che riflette con accuratezza sul proprio lavoro quotidiano, lo sa presentare e giustificare di fronte ad un pubblico di lettori, sa partire da queste riflessioni per una progettazione di volta in volta mirata e declinata sui bisogni e gli interessi dei bambini. La vitalità e la freschezza, la capacità di valutazione ponderata, la consapevolezza profonda del proprio ruolo, che caratterizzarono le prime maestre montessoriane sono testimonianza del ruolo attivo da loro svolto anche nella diffusione del metodo e richiamano competenze attualmente ritenute imprescindibili nella preparazione delle future insegnanti.
