Fatherhood is currently undergoing a change in this historical moment, transitioning from an old model burdened by male-centric blame to a new family configuration where roles are redefined. How does this process manifest itself in music, particularly in vocal interactions between fathers and their children? This article describes a small laboratory-action research experience conducted with a group of dads and their kids; although limited in scope, it highlights some peculiarities of paternal parenting style, the challenges and opportunities encountered by participants, and the desire to seek in music an experience capable of enhancing family relationships.
