The paper analyzes the main characteristics of social workers' job placements in Italy: area of work, main categories of users, roles and activities carried out. Is is also based on a ntional surwey conducted in 2008 over 1000 Social Workers and aims to shows the plurality of job placement and professional roles as well as the substantial homogeneity of identity pattners. the paper also highlights the major current canges in social services, as well an the impact that these changes have on the employment status and also on the required skills.
