The essay focuses on the appeal of nature and outdoor educational practices that characterised many educational experiments in the early 20th century. It therefore analyses several pages of a pedagogical journal that presents numerous reports from abroad describing experiments carried out by open-air institutions. It is very clear that in the first two decades of the 20th century, there was considerable dialogue between Italian and foreign experiments, which led to the spread of new concepts regarding outdoor education.
