This contribution reflects on the role of ESA Research Network 33 (Women’s and Gender Studies) in consolidating gender studies in Europe through a generational lens. The following questions have inspired this reflection: What role has intergenerational dialogue played in the history of RN33? How has it shaped the development of gender studies? And what challenges lie ahead for the field in Europe and beyond? To address them, a generational lens has been applied, offering a framework to explore continuities, tensions, and transformations in the shift from feminist activism and thought to gender-sensitive approaches.
