On 12 February 1924, the Court of the Free State of Fiume (today Rijeka) issued a divorce ruling between the famous Italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi and his wife, the British-Irish Lady Beatrice O’Brien. That same year, the Italian government concluded a treaty with Yugoslavia (the Treaty of Roma, 27 January 1924) and, as a result, the Italian Kingdom annexed the city of Fiume. The annexation put an end to the so-called journeys of hope of the Italian spouses, who moved to Fiume to get a divorce under the Hungarian Law No. 31/1894 on civil marriage and divorce, which was still in force there.

Abstract
31/1894 on civil marriage and divorce, which was still in force there.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
