The aim of this paper is to illustrate the approach and the solutions that have been adopted by the MILK system to deliver a knowledge management environment to support workers during their every-day activities. The main goal of MILK is to collect and organize the knowledge associated with documents and projects within an organization. Profiling through metadata is the approach to classify, organize, retrieve and present knowledge. People are also profiled and organized in project teams and communities of interest to capture user needs and let the system supply users with comprehensive access to knowledge.
