Combining the design of underground infrastructures with detailed and reliable characterization and modelling of their hosting geological environment is a sensible choice that reduces risk in every stage of the design process and favours sustainable operations and maintenance. Here we present an innovative workflow, combining the new 3D/4D geological modelling software PZero with industry-standard BIM applications, that allow building a federated model including all the geological, geotechnical, and engineering components of a project in an integrated environment.

Abstract

Combining the design of underground infrastructures with detailed and reliable characterization and modelling of their hosting geological environment is a sensible choice that reduces risk in every stage of the design process and favours sustainable operations and maintenance. Here we present an innovative workflow, combining the new 3D/4D geological modelling software PZero with industry-standard BIM applications, that allow building a federated model including all the geological, geotechnical, and engineering components of a project in an integrated environment.
