Verso la chiesa della comunità: la chiesa di San Bernardo e gli homines di Faedo

The study traces the fifteen-century events occurring in St Bernard’s church in Faedo within the institutional organisation of pastoral care and its relations with the community. The analysis of archival survivals indeed shows how the choice of the clergy in charge of religious services in situ, the administration of the sacraments as well as the promoting approach of the church, formally separated from the matrix of Montagna in 1940, produced a prolific workshop of communal practices, supporting the contemporary structural strengthening of the Borough of Faedo. Also, such intersections probably concurred in choosing the iconographic theme of the Last Supper, painted in the aisle by an unknown artist just after the middle of the century and recovered during the recent restoration works.

Il saggio ricostruisce le vicende quattrocentesche della chiesa di San Bernardo di Faedo, inquadrandole nell’organizzazione istituzionale della cura d’anime e nei suoi rapporti con la comunità. L’analisi delle sopravvivenze archivistiche evidenzia infatti come la scelta del clero responsabile in loco dei servizi religiosi e dell’amministrazione dei sacramenti e l’iter di promozione della chiesa, formalmente separata dalla matrice di Montagna nel 1490, costituirono un laboratorio efficace di pratiche collettive, sostenendo il coevo irrobustimento delle strutture del comune di Faedo. Tali intersezioni concorsero forse anche alla scelta del tema iconografico dell’Ultima cena, dipinta nella navata da un anonimo artista poco dopo la metà del secolo e riportata alla luce in occasione di recenti restauri.
