The WofE technique, also used by the PermaNET Project, is based on the acquisition of spatial and standardised information. This model is aimed at collecting evidence supporting the hypothesis (the event distribution) through a quantitative method and is based on a number of elements (such as land use, lithology) that acquire a certain weight in relation to their likeliness of occurrence. The model parameters are a series of input data and of occurred events inserted into a historical database (training points). The use of these pa- rameters depends on their availability; they are then re-sampled in order to obtain a standard resolution.

Abstract

The WofE technique, also used by the PermaNET Project, is based on the acquisition of spatial and standardised information. This model is aimed at collecting evidence supporting the hypothesis (the event distribution) through a quantitative method and is based on a number of elements (such as land use, lithology) that acquire a certain weight in relation to their likeliness of occurrence. The model parameters are a series of input data and of occurred events inserted into a historical database (training points). The use of these pa- rameters depends on their availability; they are then re-sampled in order to obtain a standard resolution.
