The paper tackles the problem of corporate ethics, paying specific attention to its “dark side”, i.e. Social Corporate (Ir)responsibility (SCI): After giving a first general overview of the theme, two specific cases are analyzed, which have recently hit the internatinoal financial community: Enron and Parmalat. By comparing the two realities, we can reflect on possible analogies and differences between the American and the European systems. On such basis, we try to test the existence of context-related aspects of SCI in crises contexts.
