The solid-state electrochemical cell Pt|Ag|Ag+-β″-alumina|AgCl|Cl2(p),Pt has been investigated. The e.m.f. as a function of chlorine partial pressure (9.2–1044 Pa) and temperature (70–340 °C) has been measured. Departures of the experimental from the theoretical values are observed. Preliminary experiments on response time have been carried out and the relevant data in terms of a normalized function containing a phenomenological parameter are presented

Abstract

The solid-state electrochemical cell Pt|Ag|Ag+-β″-alumina|AgCl|Cl2(p),Pt has been investigated. The e.m.f. as a function of chlorine partial pressure (9.2–1044 Pa) and temperature (70–340 °C) has been measured. Departures of the experimental from the theoretical values are observed. Preliminary experiments on response time have been carried out and the relevant data in terms of a normalized function containing a phenomenological parameter are presented
