Co3O4 was prepared by thermal decomposition of Co(No3)2·6H2O and CoCl2·6H2O as both powders and coatings on quartz and titanium supports. The samples were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray analysis (phase composition, crystal structure, crystallite size and crystallinity), surface area determination using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method and by direct observation with the scanning electron microscope. © 1983.
