The cultural nature of our practices is a dominant issue in the current debate on early childhood education and care. The article, starting from some suggestions drawn from classic studies in anthropology, reflects on early childhood education and pedagogy from a cultural and intercultural perspective. Using some examples from studies conducted in preschools in different cultures, the article presents some ideas for encouraging the processes of dialogue and discussion among teachers and parents regarding their ideas and practices in ECEC settings.
La natura culturale delle pratiche educative è oggi un tema dominante nei dibattiti sull’educazione e sui servizi per l’infanzia. Il contributo, partendo dalle suggestioni provenienti da alcuni classici dell’antropologia dell’educazione, propone una riflessione pedagogica sull’infanzia e i servizi in chiave culturale e interculturale. Saranno discussi alcuni esempi tratti da recenti esperienze di ricerche in contesti culturali diversi presentando alcune proposte per incoraggiare il dialogo e il confronto sui modelli e le pratiche educative tra insegnanti e genitori nei servizi educativi.
