A 68-year old woman presented with a two year history of recurrent memory disturbances. The EEG recording during an episode of anterograde amnesia lasting two hours showed bitemporal epileptiform discharges. Carbamazepine was given with complete control of the attacks and normalization of EEG activity. In a few months she reported a good improvement in memory functions further supported by neuropsychological evaluation.
