The Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine has been going on for many months. In our country there is a lively debate, both theoretical and legal, on the different concepts of pacifism. In this short contribution we will present, critically, the pacifist voice most represented in the debate, which elevates to the supreme value the protection of life at all costs. In addition, the reasons and arguments of those who believe that a different form of pacifism is preferable, based on the concept of freedom, will be discussed. The assumptions and implications of these two different approaches will be examined, to discuss which problems and situations need to be addressed, trying to achieve peace.
