OBJECTIVES. The aim of this study is to compare orthodon- tic distai movement by TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) with traditional fixed appliances. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 15 patients and 38 upper cuspids were included in this study, the cuspids needed a distai movement among 2 and 6 mm. The teeth were randomly assigned to test group (treatment by TADs) or control group (traditional fixed appliance). RESULTS. In the test group the teeth moved 1,1 mm per month while in the control group they moved 1 mm. Loss of anchorage was O mm in the test group and 3,1 mm in the contrai group. CONCLUSIONS. Upper cuspid distai movement appears to be faster and more reliable using TADs; infact, even if speed of movement is not significantly different, treatment by TADs avoids loss of anchorage.

OBIETTIVI.
