A search for the decays of D0 → e+e -, D0→ μ+μ- and D 0 → e±μ∓ was investigated. The analysis was based on 122 fb-1 of data collected on or near the γ(4S) resonance by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. The BABAR detector provided charged-particle tracking through a combination of five-layer double-sided silicon microstrip detector (SVT) and a 40-layer central drift chamber (DCH). The upper limits on the branching fractions are 1.2 x 10-6, 1.3 x 10-6 and 8.1 x 10-7.
