Mobility and urban regeneration [Mobilità e rigenerazione urbana]

Cities are increasingly affected by interventions in which urban regeneration is pursued through measures that affect mobility. Originally placed in mobility policies, these measures are increasingly associated with the general scope of regeneration policies to improve quality and to restore value to a public space reduced to a mere place for motorized vehicles. The growing attention to ecological transition and sustainable development has also contributed to promoting the ecological reading of the urban environment, in its meaning of an integrated system of human and natural resources. The essay deals with the theme, focusing in the first part on the relationship between urban morphology and the increase in vehicular mobility and in the second on the regeneration policies conducted through interventions for sustainable mobility.
