Social work today faces complex challenges that require the ability to go beyond the already dreamed of in order to avoid the mere repetition of the identical (Colazzo, 2017). In crisis seems to be the principle of performance that, in recent years, has influenced the organisational forms of services and the professional postures of social workers. How to recover a political and humanizing dimension and a complex reading of social work that goes beyond the safety circles given by a technocratic and standardized vision of the problems? This contribution, starting from a reinterpretation of some concepts of Freirian pedagogy, describes a research-training process involving social workers and volunteers involved in an Dopo di Noi project. The use of a cooperative inquiry methodology and the enhancement of different ways of knowledge facilitated the dialogue between different points of view and the exploration of new meanings around the topic.
