The use of willow to address environmental issues: the Canadian experience on phytotechnology. This work reviews the main activities carried out in Quebec (eastern Canada) using willow (Salix spp.) to address several environmental issues. Very positive results have been obtained on long-term biomass willow short - rotation woody crop (SRWC) for bioenergy. Willow has also shown high potential for phytoremediation of contaminated sites and for urban wastewaters remediation. Recent findings have also shown that the establishment of urban green-willow structures, such as sound barriers along highways, is suitable for most urban areas of Quebec.

Abstract
The use of willow to address environmental issues: the Canadian experience on phytotechnology. This work reviews the main activities carried out in Quebec (eastern Canada) using willow (Salix spp.) to address several environmental issues. Very positive results have been obtained on long-term biomass willow short - rotation woody crop (SRWC) for bioenergy. Willow has also shown high potential for phytoremediation of contaminated sites and for urban wastewaters remediation. Recent findings have also shown that the establishment of urban green-willow structures, such as sound barriers along highways, is suitable for most urban areas of Quebec.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
