This essay offers the first analysis of a newly discovered Medieval Berber text from the point of view of linguistic Arab-Berber contact. As far as Berber is concerned, the Arab borrowings provide a clue to the study of earlier phases of Arabisation, a process nowadays much more advanced than in Middle Ages. From the point of view of the history of the Arabic language, this documents offers some interesting insights into the evolution of the Arabic dialects in North Africa.
