Cultura televisiva, lengua e identidad entre jóvenes migrantes hispanos

The scope of audiovisual productions thanks to the development of technology allows the access to cultural expressions from anywhere in the world, generating images of these expressions in the receiver and in the social imaginary. In this text I propose to explore the impact of television fictions in Spanish language on the representations of cultural identities in the Hispanic world, and their implications on linguistic uses and attitudes in a migratory context. The data obtained through empirical research among young Hispanic American migrants in Italy show the influence of media consumption on the development of language skills and awareness, as well as on processes of accommodation with regard to other varieties of Spanish.
