The hydrogeological modelling approach represents a powerful investigation tool in water resources management. GFLOW 2000 (Haitjema Software, 2000) is a groundwater flow simulation software which features conjunctive surface water and groundwater modelling, evaluating the magnitude and direction of water exchanges between streams and water table. Applied to a 1200 km2 wide area in the Po Plain (N Italy), different scenarios have been simulated and the obtained results, in terms of discharge potential, represent a good source of information concerning volume of water involved in the mass balance of the system. The model could be used for further predictive analyses.

Abstract
The hydrogeological modelling approach represents a powerful investigation tool in water resources management. GFLOW 2000 (Haitjema Software, 2000) is a groundwater flow simulation software which features conjunctive surface water and groundwater modelling, evaluating the magnitude and direction of water exchanges between streams and water table. Applied to a 1200 km2 wide area in the Po Plain (N Italy), different scenarios have been simulated and the obtained results, in terms of discharge potential, represent a good source of information concerning volume of water involved in the mass balance of the system. The model could be used for further predictive analyses.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
