La sentenza penale sulla catastrofe di Bhopal

After more than twenty-five years from the Bhopal disaster, the most serious incident caused by man in time of peace, the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhopal decided on the criminal case brought against seven former managers of the Indian corporation UCIL. They were found guilty and punished with a two-year term of imprisonment and a fine. The conviction leaves the victims unsatisfied especially because the charge of murder, although in the form of dolus eventualis, was not brought against the accused. The conviction does not regard, because of his absence from the proceeding, the former American president of UCC (Union Carbide Corporation), that is the parent corporation of the transnational group to which UCIL belonged.
