The charge distribution in [Re(NO)X5]-- and [Re(NO)X4L]- (L = π acceptor ligand) is discussed in the light of the results from spectroscopic, spectrosmagnetic and polarographic techniques. The limits of the contributions from the different techniques and the possibility to compare the results are also considered. © 1978.
