We compare the dynamical properties of AlχGa1-χAs AlyGa1-yAs superlattices, AlxGa1-xAs homogeneous alloys and GaAs AlAs superlattices. The interplay between the local compositional disorder of the lattice and the order imposed by the superperiodicity is investigated within a Bond Charge Model dynamics, Mass Defect perturbation, Average t-matrix Approximation as well as by a supercell approach. We describe both the acoustic disorder-activated and the optical quantized modes by means of the calculation of the dielectric function and the Raman intensity in backscattering geometry within the Bond Polarizability model. © 1991.
