Crystal-field calculations of the structure of the 4d multiplet of sixfold coordinated Zr3+ ions (T centers) in yttria-stabilized-zirconia (YSZ) are carried out to explain the anisotropic linewidth of its electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum. Intracenter optical transitions are also discussed within this model. © 1995.
