The essay analyses the conditions preventing fathers from exercising their parental rights when in jail. These conditions are determined by the lack of space in prison facilities, the need for mediation with the partner (mediation that is often denied and in any case far from easy), the difficulty in dealing with emotions and feelings of children, the lack of adequate support to help them rethink their parental role.

Il saggio analizza le condizioni che impediscono ai padri detenuti di esercitare il proprio ruolo genitoriale. Condizioni determinate dalle ristrettezze della struttura carceraria, dalla necessità della mediazione da parte della compagna (mediazione spesso negata e comunque non facile), dalla difficoltà di affrontare emozioni e sentimenti dei figli, dall’assenza di supporti adeguati per riprogettarsi come padri.
