The interpretation that is given of the term autonomy stems from a moral consideration based on the distinction between autonomy and heteronomy. It supports the argument that education is the process of supporting the educational subject in the refinement of his or her conscience. This process ends with the internalization of the moral law, and therefore the achievement of independence, namely the conclusion of the educational task by those who have helped and supported the growth path.

L’interpretazione che viene data della voce autonomia muove da una riflessione di carattere morale che, a partire dalla distinzione tra autonomia ed eteronomia, sostiene la tesi secondo la quale l’educazione è quel processo di affiancamento del soggetto educativo nell’affinamento della sua coscienza, processo che si conclude nell’interiorizzazione della legge morale e quindi della conquista dell’indipendenza, ovvero dell’esaurimento del compito educativo da parte di chi ha affiancato e sostenuto il percorso di crescita.
