This article is the achievement of a long-lasting research on the origin of the "states" of nouns in Berber (it was preceded by a series of articles in 1984, 1987, 1997, 1998). The developments already suggested in the former essays (fusion of an older determinative/article with the following noun) are confirmed by this study, which tackles some hitherto neglected issues, such as the phonetic development of initial semi-vowels (and vowels) in Berber and the existence of an "annexed state" outside nouns, especially in pronouns and some other particles. As a consequence, the original difference between the "masculine" demonstrative WA and the "neutral" particle A is called into question.

Abstract
This article is the achievement of a long-lasting research on the origin of the "states" of nouns in Berber (it was preceded by a series of articles in 1984, 1987, 1997, 1998). The developments already suggested in the former essays (fusion of an older determinative/article with the following noun) are confirmed by this study, which tackles some hitherto neglected issues, such as the phonetic development of initial semi-vowels (and vowels) in Berber and the existence of an "annexed state" outside nouns, especially in pronouns and some other particles. As a consequence, the original difference between the "masculine" demonstrative WA and the "neutral" particle A is called into question.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
