The synthesis of nanostructured Co1-xNixSb3 skutterudites by chemical alloying with Ni substitution for Co up to 27.5 at % was perfomed. The high concentration of grain boundaries due to nanostructuring lowered the thermal conductivity of thermoelectric materials. The electronic structure was examined by the density functional theory calculations and a topological analysis of the electron densities.
