The paper aims at stressing the role of Amelia Rosselli (1870-1954) in exile, from 1937 to 1946 in France, Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA. Her writings illustrate well the role of imagination in exile that unfolds as civic militancy and artistic creativity. Amelia Rosselli (neé Pincherle), born in Venice, was the mother of Carlo and Nello who were murdered in 1937 in France by order of the Fascist regime.During her years in exile, she committed to keeping alive the political legacy of her sons and to the battle against Nazi-fascism. She became one of the most influential figures in the Italian diaspora in the US.
