A specimen of Epinephelus coioides (Hamilton, 1822) has been captured on May 16, 1998 in the Trieste Golf (Northern Adriatic), at 0.9 km off the Italian coast; its total length was 12 cm. This specimen was preserved in the Trieste Marine Aquarium, and is today 52 cm LT. The catch in the Adriatic Sea of E. coioides, an Indo-Pacific sporadic species in the Southeastern Mediterranean Sea, supports the assumption of the current warming of the Northern Mediterranean Sea
