Digital platforms and recent macro-trends such as those of circular economy and sharing economy are challenging traditional mass production paradigms and support innovative business models centred on people sharing to satisfy personal needs. Also in the fashion industry, new business models started developing such as upcycling, recycling, reselling, swapping, etc. The purpose of this paper is twofold: it aims at exploring the key features of fashion rental by adopting a business model perspective and at investigating the key role played within by digital technologies and social media.
