The chapter explores the issue of home-school interaction using the case of immigrants to highlights the necessity and the opportunity to revisit the strengths and weaknesses of the dominant cultural model in Italy of “effective home-school interaction” and its related practices. Using examples from recent studies, the chapter discusses the complexity of creating context for involving immigrant parents and teachers into dialogue, highlights the importance to renew our practice in order to reduce the risk that school family interaction become a set of automatic behavior, considers the potentialities of using micro-analytic tools and methods to observe and understand the multiple meanings of the everyday encounters and illustrates the importance to define new paths for teachers training.
