The purpose of this work is to present to the reader a clinical approach to the most common lesions of the oral mucosa in elderly patients. We have described the most frequently observed oral lesions in the oral cavity: candidiasis, vesiculo-bullous diseases, oral mucositis, precancer lesions and stomatopyrosis. Clinical orientation, as evidenced by disease classifications and descriptions, should facilitate the identification and treatment of oral diseases, bridging the gap between didactic aspects of oral pathology in the elderly and practical clinical considerations. Current theoties on etiology and pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and a current bibliography are also presented. © Pio Albergo Trivulzio.
