Environment and Sustainability are well-established ‘words’ in the Italian National Curriculum. For instance in Primary School they are formalized as focal issues both for not-mandatory Educations, such as Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development, and mandatory disciplines, such as Geography. This formalization have played a crucial role in the recent evolution of the Italian Curriculum, but it should be critically read from the methodological and from the theoretical point of view. The Chapter points out and discusses the transition from EE to ESD first of all reading the Italian Primary School Curriculum and then focusing on the linkage among EE, ESD and Geography

Abstract
