By an explicit calculation, the second-loop coefficient of the β-function for the general non-abelian Thirring model is shown to depend on the scheme-dependent contact term of the fermionic determinant and not to support the existence of a critical point of order 1/Nc (Nc is the dimension of the fermion representation). © 1988.
