The baroreflex is one of the most powerful control mechanisms of blood pressure. Recent approaches for the investigation of the baroreflex control of blood circulation are discussed. These approaches provide new insights into cardiovascular regulation including: a comprehensive description of the effects of the arterial baroreflex on different components of blood pressure and heart rate variabilities; and a description of the dynamic modulation of the spontaneous baroreflex gain occurring in the laboratory environment and in daily life activities

Abstract

The baroreflex is one of the most powerful control mechanisms of blood pressure. Recent approaches for the investigation of the baroreflex control of blood circulation are discussed. These approaches provide new insights into cardiovascular regulation including: a comprehensive description of the effects of the arterial baroreflex on different components of blood pressure and heart rate variabilities; and a description of the dynamic modulation of the spontaneous baroreflex gain occurring in the laboratory environment and in daily life activities
